RMI Branding & Promotion

When i arrived in Bangalore the college was still being built, i was the only faculty and only a handful of students had signed up to start the course a few weeks later.

One of my first tasks was to devise a brand for the new college. Although the Raffles parent company has it’s own branding and styleguide, each one of its 40+ colleges tends to have it’s own variation on the theme. As a college that was going to market itself on its ‘international’ reputation, i decided to use the very western international style of graphic design as the basis of the brand. It was applied to all promotional material, our website and a huge sticker covering the front of the building.

From a practical point of view, most designers in India are untrained so it was also a reasonably easy style for others to try to replicate. The styleguide also outlined the college’s correct tone of voice, guidance on stock photography and an extensive ‘dos and donts’ section.

I also designed posters for some of the high-profile events that the college hosted.
